Hi everyone,

I'm looking for help understanding where malignant melanoma is seen. I know it's a type of skin cancer that can be very serious, but I'm not sure where it's commonly found on the body. Can anyone share what they know about this, or point me in the right direction? Any information would be much appreciated.

Malignant melanoma is a type of skin cancer that affects the pigment-producing cells known as melanocytes. It is the most dangerous type of skin cancer, with the potential to spread to other parts of the body.

Appearance of Malignant Melanoma

Malignant melanoma typically appears as an irregularly shaped, darkly pigmented patch of skin. It can vary in size, color, and shape, and may be flat or raised. It is often larger than a normal mole, and its borders are usually uneven.

Locations of Malignant Melanoma

Malignant melanoma can occur anywhere on the skin, but it is most commonly seen on the back, arms, legs, and face. It can also occur in the eyes, mouth, and genitals.

Risk Factors for Malignant Melanoma

Risk factors for malignant melanoma include fair skin, excessive sun exposure, a family history of skin cancer, and having a weakened immune system. People with more than 50 moles are also at higher risk.
