Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some help with a question I have. I'm wondering what two tests are commonly used in screening for anemia? I've heard of a few tests such as a complete blood count and a hemoglobin test, but I'm not sure if those are the two most common tests used.

Complete Blood Count (CBC)

A Complete Blood Count (CBC) is one of the most commonly used tests to diagnose and monitor anemia. The CBC is a test that measures the number and types of cells in the blood, including red blood cells (RBCs). The CBC also measures hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells. Low levels of hemoglobin and RBCs can indicate anemia.

Ferritin Test

Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body. A ferritin test can help diagnose anemia by measuring the amount of ferritin in the blood. Low levels of ferritin indicate a deficiency of iron, which is a common cause of anemia.
