I'm recently diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and am looking for information on the common presenting symptom. I understand that pain, stiffness, and fatigue are common, but what is the most common presenting symptom? Does anyone have any experience with this condition that they may be able to share? I would appreciate any advice or information that anyone can provide.

Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that mainly affects the spine, although other joints may also be affected. The most common presenting symptom of ankylosing spondylitis is low back pain, which usually begins gradually and worsens over time. Other common symptoms include stiffness and reduced mobility of the back and hips, fatigue, and inflammation of the eyes.

The most common presenting symptom in ankylosing spondylitis is back pain and stiffness. It usually starts in the lower back and may spread to other areas of the spine, such as the neck and shoulders. Other symptoms may include fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, and eye inflammation. Additionally, some people may experience pain and swelling in the heels and entheses, which are points where tendons and ligaments attach to the bones. It is important to seek medical attention if these symptoms occur, as early diagnosis and treatment can help reduce the risk of permanent damage.

The most common presenting symptom in ankylosing spondylitis is lower back pain. This pain is usually worse in the morning and can improve with activity, or can be aggravated by physical activity. It may be accompanied by stiffness and tenderness in the affected area. Other common symptoms include fatigue, weight loss, and muscle pain. Many people also experience enthesitis, which is inflammation of the tendons and ligaments where they attach to the bone. This can cause pain in the heels, hips, and shoulders. Other symptoms include morning stiffness, eye inflammation, and occasional fever. People with ankylosing spondylitis may also experience anemia, depression, and sleep disturbances.
