Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice about a sign of excessive weight gain. I have recently noticed a change in my weight and am not sure if it is considered excessive. Does anyone have any experience with this and can offer some insight? I'm looking for things to watch out for that could be an indication that I'm gaining too much weight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Excessive weight gain is a sign that one’s body is taking in more energy (calories) than it is using. Some of the most common signs of excessive weight gain include an increase in body mass index (BMI), an increase in body fat percentage, and an increase in waist circumference.

A BMI above 25 is considered overweight, while a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese. A BMI of 40 or higher is considered morbidly obese. To calculate your BMI, you can use the following formula: weight (kg) / height (m)².

Body fat percentage is another measurement that is frequently used to measure excessive weight gain. A body fat percentage above 25% in men and 32% in women is considered overweight, while a body fat percentage above 30% in men and 38% in women is considered obese.

Waist circumference is another indicator of excessive weight gain. A waist circumference of more than 40 inches in men and 35 inches in women is considered excessive, and can lead to an increased risk of health complications.

Finally, excessive weight gain can also be indicated by physical changes in the body such as stretch marks, difficulty breathing, and increased sweating.

Excessive weight gain can be a sign of an underlying health issue, such as hypothyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, or polycystic ovary syndrome. Other signs can include increased body fat (especially around the abdomen), difficulty losing weight despite diet and exercise, and fatigue. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it's important to speak with your doctor as soon as possible.
