Low levels of estrogen can cause disruption to a woman's reproductive system, resulting in menstrual irregularities, infertility, and reduced libido. Estrogen is also important for maintaining healthy bones, skin, and cholesterol levels, so a deficiency can lead to an increased risk of bone and heart disease. Low estrogen can also cause mood swings, fatigue, and hot flashes. A doctor can diagnose the issue and recommend treatments to restore normal levels.
