Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some help and advice about a fungal infection of the skin. I'm concerned because I've noticed a red, itchy rash on my skin and I'm not sure if it's a fungal infection or something else. Can anyone tell me what a fungal infection of the skin looks like and what I should do if it is a fungal infection? Are there any treatments available or should I see a doctor?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A fungal infection of the skin typically presents as a red, itchy rash with a scaly, flaky surface. The rash may have a raised, bumpy texture and can be accompanied by intense itching. It is often located in warm, moist areas of the body such as the armpits, groin, between the fingers and toes, and the scalp. The rash may also spread to other parts of the body due to scratching. Other common symptoms of a fungal skin infection are discoloration of the skin, cracking of the skin, and peeling of the skin. The infection can cause the skin to become thickened, dry, and scaly. In severe cases, the infection can lead to hair loss, blisters, and open sores. In some cases, the infection can spread to the nails, causing them to become thick, discolored, and brittle. It is important to seek medical attention if you suspect you have a fungal skin infection, as it can be difficult to treat and can lead to serious complications if left untreated.
