A positive ANA test may indicate an autoimmune disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), scleroderma, polymyositis, and dermatomyositis. In addition, a positive ANA test may be associated with other conditions such as Sjogren's syndrome, mixed connective tissue disease, drug-induced lupus, and infectious diseases like hepatitis B and C, HIV, and tuberculosis. Finally, a positive ANA test can sometimes occur in healthy individuals with no underlying autoimmune problem or disease.
