Roles of a Physiotherapist
A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional who helps people to regain their mobility and independence through the use of physical therapies, exercises, and education. The three main roles of a physiotherapist include:
Assessment: A physiotherapist will assess a patient's condition and provide advice on the best course of action for their recovery. This may include taking a detailed medical history, testing the range of motion, assessing muscle strength, and performing any necessary tests (such as X-rays or MRI scans).
Exercise Prescription: A physiotherapist will create a tailored exercise program designed to improve the patient's strength, mobility, and overall fitness. This will typically include stretching, strengthening exercises, and aerobic activities.
Education: A physiotherapist will provide advice and education to their patients on how to manage their condition and prevent further injuries. This may include providing advice on posture, ergonomics, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications that may help to improve the patient's condition.
