Hi everyone,

I need some help understanding the symptoms of FND (Functional Neurological Disorder). I have heard it described as a range of conditions that can cause physical and cognitive symptoms, but I'm not sure what those are. Can anyone help me understand what the symptoms of FND are? Are there any treatments that are available? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

FND, or functional neurological disorder (FND), is a neurological condition that affects the functioning of the central nervous system, which includes the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms of FND can vary widely and can include:

Movement Disorders

FND can cause involuntary movements that patients have no control over. These can range from tremors and muscle twitches to jerky movements of the limbs and facial expressions.

Sensory Symptoms

Patients with FND may experience changes in their sense of touch, such as numbness or tingling, as well as changes in their sense of smell or taste. Some people with FND also experience changes in their vision or hearing, including blurred vision, ringing in the ears, or sensitivity to light.

Cognitive and Behavioral Symptoms

People with FND may have difficulties with memory, concentration, thinking, and problem-solving. They may also have changes in their behavior, such as feeling agitated or having difficulty controlling their emotions.

Seizures

Some people with FND experience seizures, which can range from brief episodes of shaking or stiffening of the body to more prolonged seizures that can last for several minutes.

Fatigue

Patients with FND may experience extreme fatigue, which can range from mild tiredness to severe exhaustion. This can make it difficult to complete everyday tasks.

Pain

Many people with FND experience pain, which can range from mild to severe. This can include headaches, muscle pain, and joint pain.

Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a condition where the brain's nervous system does not function normally, but there is no identifiable structural or biochemical cause. Symptoms of FND can vary greatly, depending on the area of the brain affected and the type of FND. Common symptoms include muscle weakness, tremors, spasms, coordination difficulties, sensory disturbances, and changes in balance. Other symptoms may include changes in speech, blurred vision, difficulty concentrating, and memory problems. FND can also cause seizures, changes in mood, and fatigue. Treatment for FND may include physical therapy, medications, and psychological therapy.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a neurological condition that affects the brain's ability to interpret and process signals from the body. Symptoms of FND can vary greatly from person to person, but some of the most common symptoms include:

1. Movement Problems: FND can cause a wide range of movement problems, such as weakness, difficulty walking, tremor, and involuntary movements. Some people also experience what is known as conversion disorder, which is a sudden loss of movement or sensation in a body part.

2. Sensory Symptoms: FND can cause sensory issues, such as numbness or tingling, sensitivity to light, or altered perception of smell, taste, and sound.

3. Cognitive Symptoms: FND can cause cognitive symptoms such as difficulty concentrating or focusing, poor memory, and problems with thinking and problem solving.

4. Behavioral Symptoms: FND can also cause behavioral changes, such as changes in mood or behavior, or difficulty controlling impulses.

5. Epilepsy: FND can also cause seizures, which can range from mild to severe.

6. Fatigue: Many people with FND experience excessive fatigue, which can make it difficult to do everyday tasks.

It is important to note that everyone experiences FND differently, and symptoms can range from mild to severe. If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, it is important to speak to your doctor.
