Hello everyone!
I'm hoping to get some help understanding the symptoms of asphyxia at birth. I've heard about it but I'm not sure what exactly the symptoms are, and I'm really curious to learn more. Are there any parents here who have had a child with asphyxia at birth, or any medical professionals who can explain what the symptoms are?
I'd really appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me.

Asphyxia at Birth Symptoms

Asphyxia at birth is a condition that occurs when a baby does not get enough oxygen before, during, or after birth. It can cause a wide range of health problems, including brain damage, organ damage, and even death. The most common symptoms of asphyxia at birth include:

Low Apgar Score: The Apgar score is a test given to newborns to assess their physical condition. Babies with asphyxia at birth typically have a low Apgar score, indicating poor overall health.

Difficult Breathing: Babies with asphyxia at birth often have difficulty breathing, which can be due to their lungs not inflating properly or not being able to take in enough oxygen. This can lead to labored breathing, gasping, and grunting.

Low Heart Rate: Babies with asphyxia at birth often have a lower-than-normal heart rate. This can be due to the baby not getting enough oxygen or the heart not responding to the lack of oxygen.

Pale Skin: Babies with asphyxia at birth often have pale, blue-tinged skin due to low oxygen levels.

Limp Muscles: Babies with asphyxia at birth often have limp muscles due to poor muscle tone. This can make the baby appear floppy and unresponsive.

Seizures: Seizures can occur in babies with asphyxia at birth due to brain damage caused by lack of oxygen. These seizures can range from mild twitching to more severe convulsions.
