A person diagnosed with Level 3 Autism, otherwise known as Severe Autism, will display characteristics that range from mild to severe. These characteristics often include a difficulty in communicating and socializing with others, as well as limited interest in activities or objects.

Communication challenges are common among those with Severe Autism. They may have difficulty understanding and using language, either verbally or non-verbally. They may also have limited or no ability to use eye contact or facial expressions to communicate. They may also have difficulty understanding non-verbal cues such as body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions.

Socialization can also be difficult for those with Severe Autism. They may have difficulty understanding social conventions, such as how to introduce themselves to others or understanding appropriate boundaries. They may also have difficulty engaging in conversations and initiating interactions with others.

Those with Severe Autism may have limited interests, and may display an obsession with certain objects or activities. They may also be more likely to engage in repetitive behaviors, such as rocking back and forth or hand-flapping. They may also have difficulty transitioning between activities or routines, and may become easily overwhelmed by changes in their environment.

Finally, those with Severe Autism may have sensory sensitivities, such as being overly sensitive to certain sounds or textures. They may also have difficulty regulating their emotions, and may display behaviors such as aggression or self-injury when overwhelmed.
