Hello everyone,

I'm hoping to get some help with understanding the symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea. I've heard that snoring is a typical symptom, but I've also heard that there can be other symptoms too. Can someone tell me what the other three symptoms of OSA are? Any advice or personal experience with OSA would be greatly appreciated.

Symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder where a person's breathing is repeatedly interrupted during sleep. The most common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea include:

Loud snoring: Loud snoring is one of the most common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea. It occurs when the airway is blocked, causing vibrations in the throat that creates the snoring sound.

Daytime sleepiness: People with obstructive sleep apnea may feel excessively sleepy during the day, even after getting a full night's sleep.

Gasping for air: Obstructive sleep apnea can cause pauses in breathing during sleep, which can cause the person to gasp for air or even wake up.

The three main symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are loud and chronic snoring, pauses in breathing during sleep, and excessive daytime sleepiness. OSA is caused by a partial or complete blockage of the airway, resulting in breathing pauses that last for 10 seconds or more. The pauses can cause a person to wake up multiple times during the night, leading to fragmented and poor quality sleep. Other symptoms of OSA can include waking up with a dry mouth or sore throat, morning headaches, difficulty concentrating, mood swings, and depression.

The three most common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are loud snoring, pauses in breathing during sleep, and excessive daytime sleepiness. OSA can also cause insomnia, morning headaches, changes in mood, forgetfulness, and difficulty concentrating. In children, OSA can cause problems with growth and development, and can lead to behavioral problems. If you have any of these symptoms, you should see a doctor to determine if you have OSA.

1. Snoring: The most common symptom of obstructive sleep apnea is snoring. This occurs when the airway becomes blocked by soft tissue in the back of the throat, causing it to vibrate or partially collapse during breathing.

2. Pauses in breathing: Obstructive sleep apnea is characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes and can occur multiple times during the night.

3. Excessive daytime sleepiness: People with obstructive sleep apnea may experience excessive daytime sleepiness due to interrupted sleep. This can lead to difficulty concentrating, irritability, and an inability to stay awake during the day.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that can cause a wide variety of symptoms. Three common symptoms include loud snoring, frequent pauses in breath during sleep, and excessive daytime sleepiness. Other symptoms may include morning headaches, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and depression. People with severe sleep apnea may wake up frequently during the night gasping for air. It is important to speak to a doctor if any of these symptoms are present, as sleep apnea can lead to serious health issues if left untreated.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder where breathing is repeatedly disrupted during sleep due to a partial or complete blockage of the upper airway. The three most common symptoms associated with OSA are snoring, daytime sleepiness, and choking or gasping for air during sleep. Other symptoms may include dry mouth, morning headaches, waking up frequently to urinate, and insomnia. It is important to seek medical attention if you are experiencing any of these symptoms as they can be an indication of a more serious health condition.
