What 2 digestive enzyme tests evaluate the pancreas

I'm looking for help to understand the two digestive enzyme tests that evaluate the pancreas. Can anyone explain what these tests are, and what the results might indicate? I'm trying to get a better understanding of how the pancreas works and why these tests might be necessary. I'd really appreciate any advice or insight anyone can offer.

Subtitle: Tests to Evaluate the Pancreas
The pancreas is a complex organ that produces hormones and enzymes responsible for digestion. It is therefore important to evaluate the functioning of the pancreas periodically. Two primary tests that are used to evaluate the function of the pancreas are the fecal elastase test and the pancreatic lipase test.

Fecal Elastase Test
The fecal elastase test is a test that evaluates the amount of the enzyme elastase that is present in the patient’s stool. This enzyme is produced by the pancreas and is essential for the breakdown of proteins in the digestive system. A low level of elastase in the stool indicates that the pancreas is not functioning properly.

Pancreatic Lipase Test
The pancreatic lipase test is a test that evaluates the amount of the enzyme lipase that is present in the patient’s stool. This enzyme is also produced by the pancreas and is essential for the digestion of fats. A low level of lipase in the stool indicates that the pancreas is not functioning properly.

Both of these tests are non-invasive and can be done at home or in a laboratory. They are important for evaluating the functioning of the pancreas and can help in the early detection of any issues with the organ.
