The first FIFA World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930. It was a small tournament, with just 13 teams participating. The host nation won the tournament, and the final was held in the Estadio Centenario. Since then, the tournament has grown exponentially, with 32 teams taking part in the 2018 tournament in Russia. In addition to the growth of the tournament, there have been many thrilling moments, such as France’s heroic victory in the 1998 final, and memorable champions, such as Italy’s three-time winners. The World Cup continues to be one of the greatest spectacles in sport.
