How long can your appendix hurt before

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I've been having a really sharp and sudden pain in my side and my doctor told me it might be my appendix. I'm wondering how long can your appendix hurt before it's something more serious? I'm really worried because it's been going on for over a week now and I don't want it to get worse. Does anyone have any experience with this or know how long is too long? Any advice would be really helpful! Thank you.

What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Appendicitis?

Appendicitis, or inflammation of the appendix, causes pain in the lower right side of the abdomen. Other symptoms of appendicitis may include:

Abdominal pain that begins around the navel and often moves to the lower right side of the abdomen

Loss of appetite

Nausea and vomiting

Low fever

Constipation or diarrhea

Abdominal swelling

Inability to pass gas

If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention right away. Appendicitis can be a serious condition if not treated promptly. If left untreated, the appendix can burst, leading to infection, sepsis, and even death.

How Long Can Your Appendix Hurt Before It Needs Treatment?

The length of time an appendix can hurt before needing treatment depends on the severity of the inflammation. If the inflammation is mild, the pain may go away on its own. However, if the inflammation is severe, the pain may persist and become more intense. If the pain is severe and persists for more than a few days, medical attention should be sought.

It is important to note that appendicitis is a medical emergency. If you experience severe abdominal pain that persists for more than a few days, you should seek medical attention right away. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent serious complications, such as a burst appendix.

The duration of pain from appendicitis can vary from person to person. Generally, the pain will start as a dull ache around the belly button and then gradually worsen over the next several hours. In some cases, the pain can last for up to 24 hours before getting better. If the pain persists and becomes more severe, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible, as this could be a sign of appendicitis. Additionally, other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, and diarrhea may accompany the pain.

The pain associated with appendicitis can range from mild to severe. Generally, the pain will become worse over time and will not go away without treatment. How long your appendix can hurt before seeking medical care depends on the severity of the pain, how long it has been present, and any other symptoms you may be experiencing.

If the pain is mild and has been present for a short period of time, you may be able to wait to seek medical attention. However, if the pain is severe, persists for more than a few hours, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, nausea, or vomiting, you should seek medical attention right away.

Appendicitis is a medical emergency and needs to be treated promptly. If the appendix ruptures, the infection can spread to other parts of the body, leading to sepsis. This can be life-threatening, so it is important to seek medical care as soon as possible.

Your doctor can use imaging tests and a physical examination to diagnose appendicitis. Treatment typically involves antibiotics and surgery to remove the appendix.

If you are experiencing any pain in your abdomen, it is important to seek medical attention right away. Don’t wait too long as the pain may worsen and the complications may become more serious.
