What is Unconsciousness?
Unconsciousness is defined as a state wherein a person is unable to respond to external stimuli. This state is usually caused by trauma, drugs, or medical conditions. A person who is unconscious may appear to be sleeping, but will be unable to respond to any commands or questions.
How Long Can Someone Be Unconscious?
The length of time a person can be unconscious will vary depending on the underlying cause. For example, a person who has suffered a head injury may be unconscious for a few hours or days, while a person who has taken a large amount of drugs may remain unconscious for several days or weeks. In general, the longer a person is unconscious, the more serious the underlying cause may be.
