Early periodontitis is a form of gum disease that is caused by the build-up of plaque on the teeth. If left untreated, this can lead to serious complications, such as tooth loss. Fortunately, with the right treatment, early periodontitis can be reversed.

Treatment for Early Periodontitis

The first step in treating early periodontitis is to remove the plaque from the teeth. This can be done by brushing and flossing twice a day. It is also important to use an antiseptic mouthwash regularly to help reduce the bacteria that cause periodontitis.

Scaling and Root Planing

Once the plaque has been removed, your dentist may recommend scaling and root planing. This is a procedure where the dentist uses special tools to scrape away the plaque and tartar from the teeth and below the gum line. This helps to remove the bacteria that cause periodontitis.

Antibiotics

In some cases, your dentist may also recommend the use of antibiotics to help reduce the inflammation caused by periodontitis. Antibiotics can be taken orally or applied directly to the gums.

Follow-up Care

After treatment, it is important to follow-up with your dentist on a regular basis. This helps to monitor your progress and ensure that the treatment is working. Your dentist may also recommend additional therapies, such as deep cleaning or laser treatment, to help manage the symptoms of early periodontitis.

With the right treatment, it is possible to recover from early periodontitis. Be sure to follow your dentist's instructions and practice good oral hygiene to help keep the disease under control.
