What Causes Allergy Symptoms?

Allergies are caused by an overreaction of the immune system to a foreign substance, known as an allergen. Allergens can be found in the environment, such as pollen, dust, pet dander, and mold, or they can be found in certain foods, such as peanuts, milk, and eggs. When an allergen enters the body, it triggers an immune response, resulting in the release of histamine and other chemicals, which can cause a range of symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose.

Why Won't My Allergy Symptoms Go Away?

There are several possible explanations for why your allergy symptoms won't go away. The first is that you may not be avoiding the allergen that is causing your symptoms. Even if you are avoiding the allergen, you may be exposed to it through cross-contamination from other sources. Additionally, you may be suffering from a more serious form of allergy, such as an allergy to a medication or an allergy to a food additive. Finally, your symptoms may be due to another underlying condition, such as asthma, sinusitis, or rhinitis.

How Can I Manage My Allergy Symptoms?

The best way to manage your allergy symptoms is to identify and avoid the allergen that is causing your reaction. If you can't avoid the allergen, you may need to take medications such as antihistamines or corticosteroids to control your symptoms. You should also consult your doctor to rule out any underlying conditions that may be contributing to your symptoms.
