Who performs jaw surgery

Hello everyone,

I'm a bit confused about who performs jaw surgery and I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I'm not sure if it's an oral surgeon, an orthodontist, an ENT specialist, or someone else. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can anyone tell me what type of doctor performs jaw surgery and what the process is like? I'd really appreciate any advice or information you can provide.

Orthodontist

Orthodontists are dental specialists who diagnose, treat, and manage the majority of jaw surgeries. Orthodontists use a variety of treatments to correct misaligned teeth and jaws. These treatments include braces, retainers, and other corrective devices. Orthodontists also provide guidance on proper oral hygiene, diet, and lifestyle changes to help patients achieve their goals.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon is a specialist who is trained in the surgical treatment of the face, mouth, and jaws. These surgeons typically perform more complex jaw surgeries, such as jaw reconstruction and correction of misaligned jaws. They may also perform facial implants, facial trauma repairs, and other surgeries to improve the appearance and function of the face.

Plastic Surgeon

Plastic surgeons are medical doctors who specialize in cosmetic surgery. They may perform jaw surgeries to improve the appearance of the face, such as facial implants or jaw reshaping. Plastic surgeons may also perform reconstructive jaw surgeries, such as correcting birth defects or repairing facial trauma.
