Yes, Jesus was called God by some people during his lifetime on Earth. The Gospel of John records Jesus being identified as God by the Apostle Thomas, as well as by other people. In addition, several of Jesus' actions, such as healing the sick and raising Lazarus from the dead, were seen as evidence of his divinity. The early church also recognized Jesus as God, and many of their writings and teachings reflect this belief. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to decide whether or not they believe Jesus is God.

Jesus is referred to as 'God' in the New Testament of the Bible. The Bible is a collection of books that tell the story of God's relationship with humanity. The New Testament describes the life of Jesus and the salvific work that he accomplished on behalf of humanity. Jesus is seen as the perfect representation of God's love and is referred to in the New Testament as the Son of God, the Christ, and the Lord. Jesus himself claimed to be God, and, according to the Bible, his claims were confirmed by the miracles he performed. Jesus' followers then began to refer to him as God, believing him to be the divine savior of humanity.

Query: What is the significance of Jesus being referred to as God in the Bible?

The Bible refers to Jesus as God to emphasize his divine nature and his special place as the son of God. This is most clearly seen in the Gospel of John, where Jesus is described as being one with the Father, and having the power to do things that only God can do, such as healing the sick and raising the dead. In addition to this, the Bible often refers to Jesus as the Word of God, which further emphasizes his divine nature. Ultimately, the Bible's references to Jesus as God are meant to show that he is special and unique, and that he is worthy of worship.
