Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some help understanding autoimmune hemolytic anemias. Could anyone tell me which of the autoimmune hemolytic anemias is the most common? I am particularly interested in knowing which type is seen the most frequently and what the symptoms are.

I am looking for any and all information that might help me understand autoimmune hemolytic anemias better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

The most common type of autoimmune hemolytic anemia is Warm Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (WAHA). WAHA is an acquired, chronic, autoimmune disorder characterized by the destruction of red blood cells due to the formation of autoantibodies against red cell antigens. It is caused by an abnormal immune response that targets the body's own red blood cells. Symptoms of WAHA may include jaundice, fatigue, anemia, and shortness of breath. Treatment of WAHA includes immunosuppressive medications, transfusions, and plasmapheresis.
