Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice about the first line treatment for treating pain in chronic pancreatitis. I've heard a few different things about what might work, but I'm not sure which one is the best option. Can someone who has experience with this condition help me out? What treatments have you tried that have been successful? What have you found to be the most effective for managing the pain? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

First line treatment for pain in chronic pancreatitis typically includes lifestyle modifications, pain medications, and diet changes.

Lifestyle Modifications

Patients with chronic pancreatitis may need to make lifestyle changes in order to reduce pain. These changes may include avoiding alcohol, avoiding smoking, increasing physical activity, and reducing stress.

Pain Medications

Pain medications are a common treatment for chronic pancreatitis. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen can be used to help reduce pain. Prescription medications such as opioids may also be used to treat chronic pancreatitis pain.

Diet Changes

Diet changes can also help reduce pain in patients with chronic pancreatitis. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help reduce pain. Consuming plenty of fluids, avoiding fatty and spicy foods, and eating more high-fiber foods can also help. In some cases, a low-carbohydrate diet may be recommended.
