"Hi everyone,

I'm new here and need some help. I'm trying to find out which foods are not allowed with urticaria. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd really appreciate any advice or information you can share.

What I'm looking for specifically are foods that I should avoid, and foods that might help reduce the symptoms.

Individuals with urticaria should avoid certain foods, drinks, and additives that can trigger a flare-up. The most common foods to avoid are:

Shellfish: Shellfish are high in histamines, which can trigger an allergic response in people with urticaria.

Alcohol: Alcohol can worsen the symptoms of urticaria.

Citrus fruits: Citrus fruits contain histamines, which can trigger an allergic response.

Nuts: Nuts contain oils and proteins that can trigger an allergic response in people with urticaria.

Dairy products: Dairy products contain lactose, which can cause an allergic reaction in some people with urticaria.

Food additives: Food additives, such as sulfites and nitrates, can trigger an allergic response in some people with urticaria.

It is important to avoid all foods that trigger an allergic reaction in people with urticaria. Common food sources that trigger an allergic reaction include dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, eggs, wheat, soy, fish, and certain fruits and vegetables. Additionally, foods that contain preservatives and additives, such as monosodium glutamate, should be avoided. It is best to speak to a doctor or nutritionist to determine the best diet for someone with urticaria.

No one type of food is universally prohibited for people with urticaria. However, many people with this condition find that certain foods trigger their symptoms, so it's important to pay attention to your individual reactions. Common food triggers include dairy, fish, wheat, nuts, eggs, and citrus fruits. If you think any of these foods might be triggering your urticaria, you can try to eliminate them from your diet and see if your symptoms improve.

What food should be avoided when having urticaria?

People with urticaria should avoid foods that contain histamine, such as aged cheese, smoked meats, and some alcoholic beverages. They should also avoid foods that cause an allergic reaction, including shellfish, nuts, eggs, and wheat. Additionally, any food that has been processed, canned, or frozen should be avoided, as these can contain preservatives and additives that can trigger urticaria. Lastly, spicy foods, such as chili peppers and hot sauces, should be avoided, as they can increase inflammation and worsen symptoms.
