Which doctor should I go to for jaw problems

I'm looking for some advice. I'm having trouble with my jaw and I'm wondering which doctor I should go to for help. I'm not sure if I should see an oral surgeon, an orthodontist, or a general dentist. Does anyone have any experience with jaw problems and know which doctor I should see? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The type of doctor you should go to for jaw problems depends on the specific issue you are experiencing. Generally, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or an orthodontist would be the best specialists to see for jaw and facial problems.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon specializes in surgery of the mouth, face, and jaws. They can diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, including jaw alignment issues, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), facial trauma, and jaw tumors.

Orthodontist

An orthodontist specializes in correcting irregularities in the teeth and jaw. They can diagnose and treat malocclusion, or bad bite, and other problems with the jaw, such as overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Orthodontists can also provide treatments such as braces and aligners to help correct jaw issues.
