I'm looking for help understanding which disease is a major cause of hemolytic anemia. I know that hemolytic anemia occurs when red blood cells are destroyed faster than the body can replace them, but I'm not sure what particular disease is the primary cause. Does anyone have any insight or experience with this? Can you help me understand which disease is a major cause of hemolytic anemia? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

G6PD Deficiency

G6PD deficiency, also known as glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, is one of the most common causes of hemolytic anemia. G6PD deficiency is an inherited condition in which the body does not produce enough of an enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). This enzyme helps red blood cells (RBCs) survive. Without enough G6PD, RBCs are more vulnerable to damage from certain medications, infections, and foods. This can cause the RBCs to break down, leading to hemolytic anemia.
