Emergency Department

If you are experiencing shortness of breath and palpitations, it is best to go to the emergency department as soon as possible. Palpitations are an abnormal heart rhythm, and shortness of breath can be a sign of a serious medical condition. Your doctor will be able to assess your symptoms and provide the appropriate treatment.

Cardiologist

If your doctor suspects that your palpitations and shortness of breath are caused by a heart condition, they may refer you to a cardiologist for further evaluation. The cardiologist will conduct tests to determine the cause of the symptoms and whether or not you need to be treated. Depending on the results of the tests, the cardiologist may recommend medication to help control your symptoms or lifestyle changes to help reduce your risk of heart disease.

Pulmonologist

If your doctor suspects that your shortness of breath is caused by a lung condition, they may refer you to a pulmonologist for further evaluation. The pulmonologist will conduct tests to determine the cause of the symptoms and whether or not you need to be treated. Depending on the results of the tests, the pulmonologist may recommend medication to help control your symptoms or lifestyle changes to help reduce your risk of lung disease.

If you are experiencing shortness of breath and palpitations, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. You should visit the Emergency Room or your doctor's office to obtain an assessment and diagnosis. Your doctor may order tests such as imaging scans or an electrocardiogram to help determine the cause of your symptoms. Depending on the results, your doctor may refer you to a cardiologist or a pulmonologist for further evaluation and treatment. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions and keep any follow-up appointments to ensure your symptoms are managed properly.

If you are experiencing shortness of breath and palpitations, you should consult with a doctor as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of your symptoms, the doctor may refer you to a cardiologist, a pulmonary specialist, or an emergency room. If your symptoms are mild, your doctor may recommend lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, avoiding alcohol and caffeine, managing stress, and exercising regularly. You may also need to take medication to reduce the palpitations and/or shortness of breath. If your symptoms are severe, your doctor may recommend additional tests to diagnose and treat the underlying cause. In any case, it is important to seek medical attention so that you can get the care you need to improve your health.

Shortness of breath and palpitations can be concerning symptoms, and it is important to seek medical attention. You should go to the emergency room if the symptoms are severe or persist. Otherwise, you should make an appointment with your primary care physician. Your doctor will likely order tests to determine the cause of your symptoms, such as a chest x-ray, an electrocardiogram (EKG), or a stress test. Depending on the results, you may be referred to a cardiologist or a pulmonologist. Your doctor may also order additional tests, such as a CT scan or an echocardiogram, to further investigate the cause of your symptoms. In the meantime, your doctor may prescribe medications to help alleviate your symptoms.
