I'm hoping to get some advice from other forum users about when I should follow up with HPV negative ASCUS. I recently had a Pap test with ASCUS results and it was negative for HPV. I'm not sure when I should follow up with another test.

The first step to take when you receive a HPV negative ASCUS result is to schedule a follow-up appointment with your doctor. Your doctor will likely recommend that you receive a Pap smear every year to monitor for any changes in your cervical cells. Additionally, you may be advised to have a colposcopy and/or HPV test if further investigation is necessary. It is important to keep up with the follow-up appointments as recommended by your doctor to ensure that any changes in your cervical cells are monitored and addressed in a timely manner.

It is important to follow up with HPV negative ASCUS at least every six months for two years. After two years, you should return to your doctor for a Pap test every three years. During these follow-up visits, your doctor may perform additional tests, such as a colposcopy or biopsy, to check for signs of cervical cancer. It is also important to practice safe sex, get regular Pap tests, and make sure that you are up to date on all your HPV vaccines. By doing these things, you can help protect yourself against cervical cancer and other HPV-related illnesses.

If you have had an abnormal Pap test result of ASCUS and you have also tested negative for HPV, it is important to follow up with your doctor. Depending on other factors, such as age and your medical history, your doctor may recommend repeating the Pap test in 6-12 months, or they may recommend a more advanced test such as a colposcopy. It is important to follow up with your doctor to ensure that any changes are monitored and managed appropriately.

Q: How soon should I follow up with HPV negative ASCUS results?

A: Follow-up testing for HPV negative ASCUS results is recommended approximately 4-6 months after the initial test. This follow-up testing should include a Pap test, HPV test, or both, depending on your age and risk factors. It is important to follow up with a healthcare provider regularly to ensure any changes in your test results can be monitored and addressed in a timely manner.
