Hi everyone,

I am looking for some advice and help. I recently found out that I have Hodgkin's lymphoma and I am trying to learn more about it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what were their first signs of Hodgkin's lymphoma? I would really appreciate it if someone could share their experience with me.

Symptoms

The most common symptom of Hodgkin's lymphoma is a painless swelling in one or more lymph nodes, usually in the neck, armpit or groin. Other signs and symptoms may include:

Fever: Unexplained fever that lasts for weeks and comes and goes

Night sweats: Sweating at night that soaks your clothing or bedding

Itching: Itching all over the body, without any rash

Fatigue: Extreme tiredness that doesn’t improve with rest

Unexplained weight loss: Losing weight without trying

Loss of appetite: Not wanting to eat as much as usual

Coughing, trouble breathing or chest pain: These symptoms may occur if the lymphoma affects your chest

Pain in the abdomen or swollen abdomen: These symptoms may occur if the lymphoma affects your abdomen

Diagnosis

If you have any of the signs and symptoms of Hodgkin's lymphoma, your doctor will likely recommend a few tests to confirm the diagnosis.

The most common early symptom of Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a painless swelling of the lymph nodes, usually in the neck or armpit. Other signs and symptoms may include night sweats, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, fever, and itching. Rarely, a person may feel chest pain or shortness of breath due to an enlarged spleen or swollen lymph nodes pressing against the lungs. It is important to see a doctor if any of these symptoms persist for a few weeks.

My first sign of Hodgkin's lymphoma was a persistent sore throat that wouldn't go away no matter what I did. I also had swollen lymph nodes in my neck and armpits that were noticeable even to me, and I could feel them when I touched them. I also experienced night sweats and fatigue, and I had difficulty breathing and a general feeling of illness. I went to the doctor soon afterwards and was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

"I have been having a lot of night sweats and intense fatigue lately. I'm scared it might be Hodgkin's lymphoma. What do you think?"

It's always best to consult with a healthcare professional if you're concerned about any symptoms you are experiencing. Night sweats and fatigue can be caused by a variety of conditions, and Hodgkin's lymphoma is just one possibility. It's important to have a medical evaluation to determine the cause and to receive the best treatment. Your doctor can order diagnostic tests to help make a diagnosis. If it is Hodgkin's lymphoma, the earlier it is diagnosed, the better the outcome.
