Viruses that Cause Anemia
Anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including certain viruses. The most common viruses that can cause anemia are:
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV): This virus is transmitted through contact with infected blood and can cause anemia due to the destruction of red blood cells.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV): HIV is a virus that weakens the immune system and can lead to anemia due to the destruction of red blood cells.
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV): This virus is most commonly associated with mononucleosis, but can also cause anemia due to the destruction of red blood cells.
Cytomegalovirus (CMV): CMV is a virus that is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids and can cause anemia due to the destruction of red blood cells.
Parvovirus B19: This virus is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids and can cause anemia due to the destruction of red blood cells.
Measles virus: Measles is a virus that is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids and can cause anemia due to the destruction of red blood cells.
Malaria: Malaria is a parasitic infection that can cause anemia due to the destruction of red blood cells.
