What percentage of ASCUS are positive for HPV

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with a question I have about ASCUS and HPV. What percentage of ASCUS are positive for HPV? I recently had a Pap smear and my results indicated ASCUS, so I'm wondering how common it is for this to be positive for HPV.

I would really appreciate any information or advice from anyone who has experience with this issue.

Subtitle: ASCUS Positive for HPV

High-risk human papillomaviruses (HPV) have been identified as the cause of cervical cancer. Recent studies have indicated that a large percentage of ASCUS (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance) Pap test results are positive for HPV.

ASCUS is a term used to describe abnormal cervical cells that do not have the characteristics of either normal cells or those of a precancerous lesion. An ASCUS Pap test result may indicate an HPV infection, and an HPV test may be recommended after an ASCUS result.

HPV is a common sexually transmitted infection that can cause cervical cancer. There are more than 100 types of HPV, and some are considered high-risk for cervical cancer.

Studies have shown that between 17% and 65% of ASCUS results are positive for high-risk HPV. The exact percentage varies depending on the population being studied and the testing methods used. In most cases, women with ASCUS results are advised to have an HPV test to determine if they have a high-risk HPV infection that needs to be monitored or treated.

The percentage of ASCUS (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance) that are positive for HPV (human papillomavirus) can vary depending on the population studied. In general, studies show that the proportion of ASCUS that test positive for HPV is around 40-60%. However, some studies have reported higher rates of up to 90%. It is important to note that the risk of cervical cancer increases with the number of HPV-positive ASCUS results.

According to research, the percentage of ASCUS (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance) that are positive for HPV (human papillomavirus) can vary widely. Generally, around 10-30% of ASCUS cases are tested positive for HPV, but the rate can be as low as 5% or as high as 50%. It is also important to note that the rate of HPV positivity in ASCUS cases can vary depending on the age of the patient, with younger patients typically having higher rates of HPV positivity.

The percentage of ASCUS (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance) positive for HPV (human papillomavirus) can vary significantly depending on the age of the patient, the type of HPV test used, and other factors. Generally speaking, studies have found that up to 40% of women with ASCUS are positive for HPV. However, this number can range from as low as 0-13% in women under the age of 21 to as high as 60-73% in women over the age of 30. In addition, the type of HPV test used can also affect the percentage of positive results. For example, tests that use polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology typically return a higher percentage of positive results than tests using hybrid capture technology.
