Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for help understanding the stages of rhinitis. I've been diagnosed with rhinitis and the doctors told me there are different stages of severity. I'm not sure what the stages are and how they differ from one another. Can anyone help me understand what the stages are and how they progress? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Rhinitis is an inflammation of the nasal passages that can be caused by a variety of factors, including allergies, irritants, and infections. The stages of rhinitis vary depending on the underlying cause.

Allergic Rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis is an immune system response to a foreign substance such as pollen, dust mites, or animal dander. Symptoms typically appear within minutes or hours of exposure and can include sneezing, congestion, runny nose, itchy eyes, and nasal congestion.

Non-Allergic Rhinitis

Non-allergic rhinitis is an inflammation of the nasal passages that is not caused by an allergic response. It is often caused by irritants such as smoke, strong odors, and air pollution. Symptoms can include sneezing, congestion, and a runny nose.

Infectious Rhinitis

Infectious rhinitis is an inflammation of the nasal passages caused by a virus or bacteria. Symptoms can include sneezing, congestion, runny nose, fever, fatigue, sore throat, and coughing. Treatment for infectious rhinitis typically includes antibiotics or antiviral medications.

Chronic Rhinitis

Chronic rhinitis is an inflammation of the nasal passages that lasts for more than 12 weeks. It can be caused by allergies, irritants, or infections. Symptoms can include sneezing, congestion, runny nose, and headaches. Treatment for chronic rhinitis typically includes medications, immunotherapy, and lifestyle changes.
