Anorectal abscesses are localized infections of the anal and rectal areas. They are most commonly located in the intersphincteric space, which is the area between the internal and external anal sphincters. This is an area of the body that is prone to infection due to its close proximity to the anus and rectum. The intersphincteric space is where the majority of anorectal abscesses are found. Other locations of anorectal abscesses include the ischiorectal fossa, which is the area between the anal canal and the pelvic bones, and the perianal space, which is the area between the anus and the skin.

Anorectal abscesses are most commonly located in the anal canal, just inside the anus. They can also occur in the perianal region, just outside the anus, or in the rectum and may extend into nearby organs. The abscess can occur as a single lesion or as multiple lesions, and the most common symptom is pain in the affected area. Treatment typically involves drainage of the abscess, which can be done surgically or through antibiotics.

An anorectal abscess is a pus-filled pocket that forms near the anus and rectum. The most common location for an anorectal abscess is in the anal canal, which is the lower part of the rectum that connects to the anus. Other locations of anorectal abscesses include around the anus, in the rectum, or in the ischiorectal fossa, which is the space between the rectum and the pelvic bones. In some cases, multiple anorectal abscesses can occur at the same time.

Anorectal abscesses most commonly form in the area between the rectum and the anus. They can also form near the anal canal, in the lower rectal area, or in the perianal area. In rare cases, the abscess can form further away in the abdomen or pelvic area. Symptoms may include pain, itching, swelling, redness, and fever. Treatment typically involves antibiotics and surgical drainage of the abscess. In some cases, it may require an incision to be made in the area to properly drain the infection.

Anorectal abscesses are most commonly located near the junction between the rectum and anus and can be caused by poor hygiene, an infected anal gland, or a sexually transmitted infection. They can be painful and may require medical treatment to reduce the risk of further complications.
