Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is the most common form of anxiety disorder. People with GAD experience persistent and excessive worry that can interfere with their daily activities. They may worry about their health, family, work, or other situations even when there is little or no reason to do so. Other symptoms include restlessness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and muscle tension.
Panic Disorder
Panic disorder is characterized by sudden, intense episodes of fear or terror. During a panic attack, people may experience a racing heart, chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, and fear of dying. Panic disorder is usually accompanied by other anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder or social anxiety disorder.
Social Anxiety Disorder
Social anxiety disorder, also known as social phobia, is a type of anxiety disorder characterized by intense fear and avoidance of social situations. People with social anxiety disorder may be afraid of being judged, embarrassed, or ridiculed in public. This fear can lead to avoidance of social situations, such as large gatherings, or even situations such as job interviews or shopping.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors. People with OCD may experience intrusive thoughts, such as fear of contamination or fear of harm to loved ones. They may also engage in repetitive behaviors such as excessive hand-washing or checking things multiple times.
