The most basic personality type is known as the "Big Five" personality traits. These five traits are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Each trait is measured on a spectrum and can be used to gain insight into a person's character. An individual's personality type is determined by their score on each of these five traits. People who score high on Openness are typically creative and curious, while those who score low are more traditional and conventional. People who score high on Conscientiousness are organized and reliable, while those who score low are more relaxed and spontaneous. People who score high on Extraversion tend to be outgoing and social, while those who score low are more introverted and solitary. People who score high on Agreeableness are cooperative and compassionate, while those who score low are more competitive and independent. Finally, people who score high on Neuroticism tend to be anxious and emotionally reactive, while those who score low are more emotionally stable and even-tempered.
