Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some help understanding the early and late phase of allergic rhinitis. Does anyone have any information on the topic? I'm especially interested in learning about the symptoms of each phase and how they differ.

Any advice or knowledge on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

Early Phase of Allergic Rhinitis

The early phase of allergic rhinitis is an acute, IgE-mediated reaction to an allergen which occurs within minutes to hours after exposure. Symptoms include nasal congestion, sneezing, rhinorrhea, itching of the eyes, nose, and throat, and facial pressure or pain.

Late Phase of Allergic Rhinitis

The late phase of allergic rhinitis is a delayed reaction which occurs several hours to days after the initial exposure to an allergen. Symptoms include nasal congestion, increased mucous production, sneezing, coughing, and headaches. These symptoms can last up to several days. Treatment includes avoidance of allergens, medications, and immunotherapy.
