Hello everyone! I've been searching around for information about the differences between viral and allergic rhinitis, and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. Does anyone have any advice or experiences to share about what the main differences are between these two conditions? I'd really appreciate any help or insight you can provide.

Viral Rhinitis vs Allergic Rhinitis

Viral Rhinitis

Viral rhinitis is an inflammation of the nose caused by a virus, such as the common cold or influenza. Symptoms of viral rhinitis include sneezing, runny nose, congestion, and a sore throat. These symptoms can last up to two weeks and can be treated with over-the-counter medications such as decongestants and antihistamines.

Allergic Rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis is an inflammation of the nose caused by an allergen, such as pollen, dust, mold, or pet dander. Symptoms of allergic rhinitis include sneezing, runny nose, congestion, and itchy, watery eyes. These symptoms can last up to several weeks and usually require prescription medication to treat.
