The second stage of anemia is usually referred to as moderate anemia. This type of anemia is characterized by a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin in the blood. It is also associated with a decrease in the number of red blood cells, which are responsible for carrying oxygen to the cells in the body.

Signs and Symptoms of Moderate Anemia

Moderate anemia can have a variety of symptoms, depending on the cause. Common symptoms include tiredness, weakness, pale skin, shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches, chest pain, and rapid heart rate. People with moderate anemia may also experience joint pain, brittle nails, and changes in appetite.

Diagnosis of Moderate Anemia

The diagnosis of moderate anemia is usually made based on a physical examination and review of medical history. The doctor may also order tests to determine the cause of anemia, such as a complete blood count, blood chemistry tests, and a bone marrow biopsy.

Treatment of Moderate Anemia

The treatment for moderate anemia depends on the underlying cause. Treatment may include taking iron or other vitamin supplements, taking medications to treat an underlying condition, or making lifestyle changes. In severe cases, a blood transfusion may be necessary.
