Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping to get some help understanding something. What is most specific, amylase or lipase? I've read a bit about them, but I'm still a bit confused. Can anyone explain the difference between the two and why one is more specific than the other?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lipase is generally considered the more specific enzyme of the two. Amylase is an enzyme that breaks down starches into sugars, while lipase breaks down fats into fatty acids and glycerol. Lipase is more specific than amylase in that it only acts on specific types of oils and fats. It can also break down triglycerides, which amylase cannot.
