Hemolytic disease in adults is a medical condition in which red blood cells (RBCs) are destroyed faster than they can be replaced. This results in anemia, a decrease in oxygen-carrying capacity, and other health complications. It can be caused by a number of factors, including certain medications, autoimmune disorders, infections, and genetic abnormalities. Treatment usually involves managing the underlying cause, as well as supportive care to help manage symptoms.
