I am looking for help understanding hemolytic disease. I recently heard about it but I'm not sure what it is characterized by. Hemolytic Disease:
Hemolytic disease is a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed faster than they can be replaced. It is caused by the body producing antibodies that attack its own red blood cells, leading to a decrease in the number of red blood cells and anemia. Symptoms of hemolytic disease include fatigue, pale skin, yellowing of the eyes and skin, shortness of breath, chest pain, and dark urine. Treatment for hemolytic disease may include blood transfusions, medications, and removal of the spleen.
