I'm new to AML and I would like to understand what autoimmune hemolytic anemia is. Could someone please explain to me what this condition is, and how it is related to AML? I would really appreciate any kind of help or advice from anyone with knowledge on the subject. I am trying to learn more about AML so I can better understand and help my loved one who has been diagnosed with it.

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a condition that occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy red blood cells. AIHA is most commonly seen in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In AML, AIHA is caused by clonal proliferation of bone marrow cells that produce antibodies against red blood cells, leading to their destruction. AIHA is characterized by anemia, jaundice, and increased risk of infection. Treatment of AIHA in AML consists of immunosuppressive drugs, such as corticosteroids, and blood transfusions.
