Hello everyone,

I have been trying to research what another name for acromegaly is, but I am having a hard time finding the answer. Can anyone help me out? I know acromegaly is a disorder caused by an excess of growth hormone but I am trying to find out if there is another name for it. Does anyone know what that is?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Cushing's Syndrome

Acromegaly, also known as Cushing's syndrome, is a hormonal disorder caused by the overproduction of growth hormone in adults. The condition can cause a wide range of physical and psychological changes. Common symptoms include enlarged hands and feet, thickening of the skin, enlargement of the organs, and an increase in facial features. It is also associated with high blood pressure, diabetes, and an increased risk of developing certain types of cancer. Treatment usually involves medication to lower growth hormone levels, and in some cases, surgery to remove the tumor that is causing the condition.

Gigantism is another name for acromegaly, which is a condition caused by the overproduction of growth hormone. Gigantism is characterized by an abnormal growth of the hands, feet, and face. It can also lead to enlargement of the internal organs, such as the heart and liver. In some cases, it can even affect the patient’s height. Treatment of gigantism usually involves either surgery or medication to reduce the production of growth hormone.

Acromegaly is a medical disorder caused by an excess of growth hormone in the body. It is also known as gigantism when it occurs in children and adolescents, and somatotroph adenoma or hypophysial adenoma when the disorder is caused by a tumor. It can also be referred to as "gigantism of the adult." Symptoms of acromegaly include an enlarged face, hands, feet, and internal organs, and can lead to serious health complications if untreated.

Another name for acromegaly is gigantism. Acromegaly is a rare medical condition caused by an excess of growth hormone being produced by the pituitary gland. This leads to an increase in body size, specifically the hands, feet, and face. Gigantism is a term used to describe the excessive growth of the limbs and other body parts due to an overproduction of growth hormone during early childhood. People with acromegaly or gigantism often experience physical deformities, including enlarged tongues, coarse facial features, and joint pain. Treatment typically includes medications, lifestyle changes, and, in some cases, surgery.
