Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with something. I recently heard about something called an orthokeratinized cyst, and I'm wondering what it is. Can anyone provide some information on this topic? I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what an orthokeratinized cyst is and how it is diagnosed and treated.

An orthokeratinized cyst is a type of cyst that forms when keratin-producing skin cells become trapped and die within a closed pocket. It is usually filled with a thick, yellowish liquid known as keratin. Orthokeratinized cysts are typically found on the face, neck, and ears and are most common in those over the age of 40. Common symptoms include swelling, redness, and pain. Treatment typically involves draining the cyst and removing any dead skin cells. In some cases, an antibiotic may be prescribed to prevent infection.
