What is an example of an overt pathway

I'm looking for help understanding an example of an overt pathway. I've heard about overt pathways in relation to communication but I'm not sure what it is or what an example of one would look like. Can anyone help me out? What is an overt pathway and what would an example of one be? Any help would be much appreciated.
