I'm hoping someone can help me understand what AIHA stands for in immunology. I've heard the term used in conversations between medical professionals, but I'm not familiar with what it means.

AIHA stands for Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. It is an autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks its own red blood cells. This can lead to a deficiency of red blood cells, anemia, and other symptoms such as fatigue, jaundice, and shortness of breath. Treatment typically involves medications to suppress the immune system and reduce symptoms.
