What is a keratinized area

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum and was wondering if someone could help me understand what a keratinized area is. I've heard of it in reference to hair and skin care, but I'm not sure what it actually means.

Keratinized areas are areas of the body that contain the protein keratin. Keratin is a protein that is found in the outer layer of the skin, hair, and nails. It is responsible for providing protection and strength to these areas. Keratinized areas are areas of the skin that have a higher concentration of keratin than normal. These areas are usually found on the palms, soles of the feet, elbows, and knees. They are tougher than other areas of the skin and are less prone to damage.
