Hello everyone! I'm hoping to find some help here. Can anyone tell me what a calcific odontogenic cyst is? I'm doing some research at the moment and I'm having difficulty understanding what it is and why it occurs. I'm especially interested in learning about the symptoms and treatments for this condition.

A calcific odontogenic cyst is an uncommon benign cyst that usually develops in the jaw bone. It is caused by the deposition of calcium salts in the wall of the cyst. This type of cyst is usually seen in the posterior region of the mandible but can occur in other regions of the jaw. It is typically asymptomatic and found incidentally during radiographic imaging. Treatment involves surgical enucleation of the cyst and may require reconstructive surgery to restore the anatomy.
