Hello! I'm new here and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I recently heard about 24 hour urine amylase and I'm curious to know what it is. Could someone explain to me what it is and how it's used? I'm also interested in how it differs from other tests that measure amylase. Any help would be much appreciated.

24 hour urine amylase is a test that measures the amount of an enzyme called amylase in a urine sample collected over a 24-hour period. This test is used to detect and diagnose certain medical conditions, such as pancreatitis and kidney disease. It can also help to monitor the effectiveness of treatments for these conditions. The 24-hour urine amylase test is not routinely performed and is usually done in combination with other tests such as blood tests and imaging tests.
