The Orthopedic Department looks at a variety of musculoskeletal issues. These range from fractures, joint pain, and arthritis, to spinal disorders, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal trauma. In addition to diagnosing and treating these conditions, orthopedic specialists also provide preventive care.

Diagnostic Tests and Procedures

Orthopedic specialists use a variety of diagnostic tests and procedures to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions. These include X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans, and ultrasound. They may also use arthroscopy to diagnose and treat joint problems.

Treatments

The type of treatment an orthopedic specialist recommends will depend on the type and severity of the musculoskeletal problem. Treatment may include medications, physical therapy, and surgery. In some cases, orthopedic specialists may recommend lifestyle changes, such as exercising more or losing weight.

Preventive Care

Orthopedic specialists also provide preventive care. This may include teaching patients how to use proper posture and body mechanics to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries. They may also recommend stretching or strengthening exercises to improve flexibility and strength.
