"Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I was recently diagnosed with an odontoma and I'm trying to learn more about it. Does anyone know what an odontoma is? Is it a type of tooth or something else entirely? I'm really curious and would really appreciate any help or advice anyone can provide.

Odontoma is a non-cancerous (benign) tumor of the teeth. It is composed of dental tissues, such as enamel, dentin, and cementum. Odontoma is the most common type of odontogenic tumor. It usually appears as a single, hard lump located on the gums or inside the jawbone. It is usually painless and can be removed surgically. The cause of odontoma is unknown. Treatment may involve surgical removal, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy.
